The grinning clown face featured on the can cozie is known as "Tillie":

The name Tillie is a nod to George C. Tilyou, the owner of Steeplechase Park in Coney Island, NY. A similar grinning face was featured on Steeplechase Park signage;  While visiting the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, he saw the Ferris wheel and decided to build his own on Coney Island; it immediately became the resorts biggest attraction. He added other rides and attractions, including a mechanical horse race course from which the park derived its name.
